Character Information

Name: Selina Kyle. [Catwoman. The Cat.]
Journal Name: neverevercaught.at.livejournal.com
Fandom / Series: DC Comics | Millerverse through to Year one and "The Long Halloween."
From When: Just prior to the death of Sofia Falcone. She was grabbed right after they fell out the window.

Function: Given that Selina is taken prior to her settling down in the Modern!Verse storyline, she is more then willing to change sides of required and will do so. She fits the idea of a spy pretty easily, but she could also pass on messengers without difficulty.

Preferred Side: Once again, Selina would be tough to place. She will switch sides unless the side she's on proves it's loyalty to her somehow and offers her something. If she develops an attachment to someone on either side, she'd most likely stick around-or bat for the other team and throw a bone to the side with the person or persons she cares about. At this point however, Selina looks out for Selina.

However, with her skills, I think she'd make a fine addition to the civilian team, although in this case I do have to defer to the mods for help with this.

Abilities / Powers: Catwoman is a world class acrobat. She is a master of Parkour and Judo. She is also a world class thief which means she has working and above average skills in surveying, technology, illicit entrances and egresses, and delicate touch (a must if dealing with pressure sensors and such.) She is also a dancer, skilled in seduction and manipulation of both men and women if the situation calls for it. She is in every essence a cat, someone who keeps to themselves and does what they want to do.

Personality: Selina Kyle looks out for one person, Selina Kyle. She is brave, bold, and willing to take any risk but she's led an incredibly hard life and it shows when faced with danger or threats to her person. She will leave unless she herself-or occasionally someone she cares about-is threatened. Selina is not a directly confrontational person unless her territory is invaded.

Selina worked hard for that freedom and that strength, so she sees it as her right to enjoy it. If dealing with a man or someone who she feels she can manipulate, Selina will flirt shamelessly, an attempt to gain one last bit of information or shiny article before she leaves. She enjoys playing with people and toying with their emotions. The downside is that when you work that hard without learning to trust people, there are instances where you can't trust at all.

A consistent point in canon. Selina will come, but she will never stay. If she does, it's a rarity and something to be treasured. Given that her relationships that she chooses to stay in usually turn out poorly (such as with Batman) she tends to be incredibly selective with the people she invests her time in.

She is incredibly detail oriented, which stemmed from needing to keep herself, her sister, and her adopted sister Holly Robinson alive. She looks for every little detail, and it takes a lot for her to miss one. She is human however, and she is capable of making mistakes which feeds once again into why she doesn't like to involve other people or trust other people. Deep down, Selina is a fundamentally good person who has been firmly convinced she must go it alone as far as life itself is concerned.

Other people get in the way and create casualties.

Coming from a poorer background, Selina unconsciously champions those she sees as oppressed or hurt in some way by larger entities. While her support won't be encouraging, she will instead insist that they have all the weapons that they need and should fight for everything they want in life. She is a hard woman, but not without compassion or understanding. She cares very deeply, but her feelings of caring and nurturing are buried down deep. She can form lasting relationships, but it takes time for them to become the sort of people that she's willing to die for.

Another side effect of being born poor is her attraction to shiny objects. A psychologist would call it transfer of a sort, but Selina adores shiny things and sees them as trophies. A giant finger raised to the world, look at me, look at what I can do. She doesn't steal for wealth or money but simply because she can to prove to her detractors that she is powerful and will not be defeated.

History: Catwoman, The Long Halloween

Sample Journal Entry:

[The recorder flicks on to reveal a woman. She's wearing a skintight suit, has a utility belt, and is tapping a whip against her knee. She's also got on massive red goggles that are glowing in the dim light.

She picks up the recorder and gently turns it around to face the city before turning it back to her. She's high up-sitting on a rooftop or a ledge or something similar that gives you a decent vantage point.]

I think the problem with war is that nobody takes the time to think don't you? Nobody ever asks why. It's just "Do or Die, Do or Die" blah, blah, blah...

[She shakes her head and sets the recorder down] That's probably the point though, some big distraction. Anyone else see the potential for a major meltdown? What if there's a bomb planted in every building? I could go on and on. We're clinging onto sides, when there's a chance...

[she smirks]

Still. There's something that reminds me of home here. It might be the locale. Or all the arguments.

If anyone needs me, I'll be looking for a good jewelry store. I figured I'd pick up something nice for whoever has a birthday coming up.

[She leans down to pick up the recorder and switches it off.]

[Third person perspective.]

You don't dress for a war.

She was under the impression that no one dressed for a war. This place called for fatigues and combat boots. For one brief moment, sitting in the ruins of a building, she felt naked and exposed.

It took a moment, perhaps it was her imagination, but there on the horizon, a sign of life.

A small, white, sign of life. It had four paws and two ears and it ambled happily amid the dead and dying place dressed for anything. The creature stopped and stared, tilting it's head before shrugging her off. People were silly creatures.

She closed her eyes. When she opened them the cat was gone and she was still in her suit still thinking of Sofia falling to the streets below. Her hands still ached, claws chipped and broken. "Damn."

She'd have to find a way to fix them, the minute she figured out where she was. Where was a good place to start. It looked like a hospital.

The idea that she was dead, and that the cat was some sort of guardian to the afterlife, threw her into a state of laughter. Except they'd left her fully clothed and dirt stained, sweat running down her back from Batman's fight.

She wondered if he made it. She wondered if any of them had made it and was suddenly grateful not to be there. Her hand scratched at blankets and clutched at something thick and dark and black. Her whip.

"Cats." she said, "Are dressed for anything." She fought her fear and the idea that she had fallen to the city streets below. It took her a minute to nip and tuck everything around her suit. The signs of battle were thankfully minimal. Dressed for anything.

Dressed for war.

Sample RP: Catwoman and Ivy Talk Progress, Catwoman meets a Time Lord's Companion , and Catwoman thinks about Joining SHIELD

Yeah, I know they're all in progress. Bear with them, they are awesome.
